Chicken Pakodi is Crispy and Crunchy you will feel the perfect texture with every single bite. It is easy to make and serves as a great appetizer for parties as well.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams boneless chicken, cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 teaspoons red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • A handful of fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • A few curry leaves, chopped
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

Step 1: Marinate the Chicken

  1. Prepare Marinade: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, coriander powder, cumin powder, black pepper powder, lemon juice, and salt.
  2. Marinate Chicken: Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and mix well to coat each piece evenly. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour for the flavors to penetrate.

Step 2: Prepare the Batter

  1. Make Batter: After marinating, add the besan, rice flour, chopped coriander leaves, and curry leaves to the marinated chicken. Mix well to form a thick batter that coats the chicken pieces. If needed, add a little water to get the right consistency.

Step 3: Fry the Pakodi

  1. Heat Oil: Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Fry Chicken: Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the batter-coated chicken pieces into the oil. Fry in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until the chicken pakodis turn golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally for even cooking.
  3. Drain: Remove the fried chicken pakodis with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Step 4: Serve

  1. Serve Hot: Serve the crispy and spicy Chicken Pakodi hot with mint chutney, tamarind chutney, or tomato ketchup.

Tips for Perfect Chicken Pakodi

  • Even Coating: Ensure the batter evenly coats the chicken pieces for uniform frying.
  • Oil Temperature: Maintain a medium heat to ensure the pakodis cook through and are crispy without burning.
  • Marination Time: Allow enough time for marinating the chicken to enhance the flavor.
