Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to create delicious homemade burgers:

For the Patties:

  • 500 grams ground meat
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

For the Burger Assembly:

  • Burger buns
  • Cheese slices (optional)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Red onion slices
  • Pickles
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Mayonnaise

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Patties

  1. Mix the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, paprika, and dried oregano. Mix gently until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4-inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Step 2: Cook the Patties

  1. Preheat the Grill or Pan: Preheat your grill or a large skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates or the skillet to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook the Patties: Place the patties on the grill or in the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Add cheese slices on top during the last minute of cooking if making cheeseburgers.

Step 3: Toast the Buns

  1. Toast the Buns: While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

Step 4: Assemble the Burgers

  1. Spread the Condiments: Spread a layer of ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun.
  2. Add the Patties: Place a cooked patty on top of the condiments.
  3. Layer the Toppings: Add lettuce leaves, tomato slices, red onion slices, and pickles on top of the patty.
  4. Top with the Bun: Cover with the top half of the bun.

Step 5: Serve

  1. Serve Immediately: Serve the burgers immediately with your favorite sides like fries, coleslaw, or a simple salad.

Tips for the Perfect Homemade Burger

  • Quality Meat: Use good quality ground meat with a bit of fat for juicy burgers.
  • Indent the Patties: Making an indentation in the center of the patties helps them cook evenly.
  • Rest the Meat: Let the patties rest for a few minutes after cooking to retain their juices.
  • Customize: Feel free to customize the toppings and condiments to suit your taste.

Happy grilling!
